This study was developed with the first semester students of the Foreign Languages Program at Universidad del Valle. The main objective was to design, implement and develop a didactic sequence in reading literary texts to interpret the text "A party down in the square" by Ralph Ellison. In order to reach that objective, a series of interventions were carried out to help students decode and read literature. In that way, data about student's responses, appreciations, and their reading processes were collected in order to have a deeper analysis. The didactic sequence, its process, results, and conclusions were analysed and here presented.
